We are categorized as the fourth largest shipbuilder in the world, and this is amazing.
The question is, can we feel it?
In order to experience by ourselves that we ranked as the fourth largest in the world, then something must be felt, its effect to our domestic affairs and the witness the maritime capability of this country.
The state and condition of our maritime travels and view of the shipping companies producing them shall trickle down to the advantage for our domestic consumption of ships, that is, domestically.
At the current, we are seeing passenger ships in the country as bought and imported by local shipping companies from abroad. Most of them obtained in second hand or used condition.
Foreign Investments.
It is South Korea and China as the biggest shipbuilders/company in the Philippines that comprise this ranking of the country as the fourth largest in the world, without them, we are none.
In this view, this claim is hollow due to the merit is given by foreign investors and foreign shipbuilders who are here on a part time basis (investor). They will boot out someday.
The concern here is to solidify the conclusion that we are genuinely the fourth largest shipbuilders in the world, that is, to create the atmosphere that we local Filipinos re the ones building ships for the world.
Let's capitalize the current situation and put up counterparts or local firms in shipbuilding business and increasingly be noticed to be the actual shipbuilders (filipino made) in the country.
What we are doing here is supplying skilled labor for these foreign firms and this is one indicator that we are capable and skilled enough to venture in shipbuilding by our own.
The technology problem is the only lacking in this industry. But taking into account the China model of copying, hacking, and stealing technological advances from the west is not far to do because our skilled parts of labor can take them with their photographic memory as they are there in the workplace, in the shipyards. Not a difficult task for a Pinoy James Bond.
The issue here is whether we intend
to become the Lord of shipbuilders in
the world. and dominate the global
industry of shipbuilding.
Well, this issue depends on our willingness to become such in the industry. What we find at the current is our insincerity in the business is unforgiving by letting foreigners dominate the world of shipbuilding at our expense.
We ignore the possibility of taking them into our hands the technology and built shipbuilding business in the country by our own brand. Ultimately dominate the world, become a Super Pilipinas.
The advantage of an independent shipbuilding industry is limitless. Progressively we must shore our selves by engaging local businessmen into this industry until we master the technology and the industry.
The issue is whether we are willing
to take the position of using local
shipbuilding to our advantage and
built naval ships of our own, unlimited,
24/7?
We see the problem in the west Philippine sea that we cannot defend our maritime sovereignty, that therefore provides this proposition of harnessing the power of our local shipbuilding capabilities to convert them into more naval ships patrolling our waters is an advanced idea. If we can attain sufficiency in shipbuilding alone, this problem of lacking navy patrols and our coast guards can be met easily with a healthy shipbuilding industry.
Why look and source outside if we have this local shipbuilding industry here? we have been dependent from Japan, the US, the South Korea of giving us retired naval ships for our naval entourage in the country when we just look at the state of our shipbuilding industry here?
With stable industry, we can make every kind of ship models and of limitless numbers using this industry advantage.
