Recently, the President in his speech, predicted that in 25 years, Manila will be a dead City.
“Manila I think, in about 25 years, will be a dead city. It will start to decay and there is no way that we can rehabilitate the place,” he said.
Though, he maybe right, on the other hand he is wrong in saying that "there is no way to rehabilitate the place."
In the paradigm of public service, such averment of the President is unsuitable to push the statement because first of all Manila is the Capital of the Philippines and it's name symbolizes the epitome of success of the country and a herald of progress and development after the second world war, but what it had become today is not the fault of the city, it is the fault of the governance that slept on its job, and did nothing to serve to make the city updated with the flow of progress, development, that only governance can answer.
EXTREME ENGINEERING
We need extreme engineering to make Manila a properly organized city. The perennial political matters dealt by our official ever since our independence crumbled the city into nothingness today. Because of little attention to Engineering, Architecture, the city ruined to become dysfunctional. Traffic, sewage, garbage, pollution, communication, etc., the fluidity of the city to become breathable, alive and functional has deteriorated and lost. All of these is about governance and utilizing Engineering and Architecture as tools in the process.
The use of extreme Engineering is the remedy and will bring back Manila alive and functional. we must make a summit of Engineers, Architects, for a period and let them come up with the best solution to the problem, but needed support for fund by the government.
Subways, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, fly over over pass, multilevel underground tunnels and sewering systems, pumping stations, underground trains, and everything that engineering and Architecture can think of, the government shall support it with funds, Manila will return more efficiently, and very viable.
Extreme Engineering is about public service and governance, that in the past, nothing has been considered of of its power of managing the City.
