We are considered by the international community as the 3rd largest speaking country in the world, and this title of communication skills by Filipinos was tested recently, and proven to be slightly different.
Actually, it was a proficiency test of Filipino nurses for the UK, that had made the revelation that we are, though can speak english, the quality and effective communication was found to be deficient.
Well, admittedly, there was a tremendous decline on the quality of grammar and the proficiency of our people to speak English due to the fact that our education system had shifted focus to our national native language aspired to become the main official communication lately, and our public schools has been soft to force the language learning, not like in the past that we were forceful, and the decline has contributed to the slow down of English.
English is a tool for trade.
It is the advantage of the country having earned english used a tool for trade. Many of our ASEAN neighbors envy the Philippines because of this advantage, and foreign investments, capitals, flows to the Philippines because of this edge.
The recent tests made for Filipino nurses can become a wake up call for us to bring back our proficiency and will make us conquer foreign jobs, and use it more for a tool for our conduct for international trade.
Let our education system put emphasis on the subject due to the language is a foreign currency earner. Le's return to the history that we are eagerly strong in learning the language and earn the stage of conquering trade.
